Modern Dance for creative dance expression of all kinds. Participants in this class are automatically a member of the WAChIPI Modern Dance Company and can expect to dance for shows and venues locally & elsewhere. For ages 14 and up.
Kiri Close - Dance Instructor Bio: Kiri Close was born and raised in her native American Samoa with added residential history in L.A., Detroit, Boston, Hawaii, Boston, Asia, Europe, with numerous stays in NYC. She has always loved & performed & choreographed dance of many genres: Polynesian, Hip Hop, Modern, Musical Dance Theatre, Japanese Butoh, and a myriad of other styles. She is excited to begin shaping pieces for her own WAChIPI MODERN DANCE COMPANY. Dr. Close enjoys preparing her dancers for public performances. For Lakota Ways (a young NonProfit she runs), she is in the planning phase of its Wachipi Dance Festival - a soon-to-be international dance event inspired by her love of Jacob's Pillow on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation she loves.
