Imagine D’Arienzo with his orchestra is coming to town for one and only performance at the local Milonga. You sure would be there with all your friends, wouldn’t you?
Guess what?
Your dream might have just come true.
Sexteto Milongero, one of the best-known traditional tango orchestras with unique and unmistakable personality, will perform at Milonga Ideal on March 11th during their first US tour.
Sexteto Milonguero formed in 2006 with the simple desire to play a dance repertoire in the Milongas with emphasis on the 40s (the golden age) and add a personal sound of the band. Their main intention was and is to continue with tradition of the great orchestras, not letting the tango fade away with only recorder music, keep the tango – dance, music and culture of Milongas alive.
The style of the group is, in essence, danceable. Over the years though, mainly because of the variety of places they performed at, including theaters and festivals worldwide, Sexteto Milongero have added to their extensive repertoire a variety of songs that are usually performed only during concerts: orchestra’s own songs, pearls of Argentine folklore, and contemporary influences such as pop, jazz and rock music to merge different backgrounds, inspirations and influences that each of the members of the sextet brought with them into the orchestra.
With 11 years of experience, Sexteto Milonguero played in milongas, theaters and festivals throughout Argentina, made 2 tours in Latin America and 13 European tours covering more than 25 countries, and also performed in Canada, Singapore and China.
