The minimum age to take Grade 1 is 7 years old. The exam is aimed at children ages 7-10 and can take 3-4 terms to complete on one class per week. In the term of the upcoming exam it is strongly recommended that an additional weekly class be attended. Children are entered in 2s without the class teacher, they must attain a good technical level and know theory as well.
