The Carrack Modern Art The Carrack Modern Art is an art exhibition and performance space that offers a place to gather, discuss, sit, think, plan and move forward with cultural events that transcend the realm of the visual arts. Our mission is to empower local artists to forge productive cultural and socio-economic ties with their community through professional exhibit opportunities.
The Carrack is built upon the realization that complete creative freedom produces better art and better artists. We operate without the constraints of traditional gallery models to allow artists to express the full potential of their vision and keep 100% of their sales.
The Carrack exists solely on donations and depends on the constant input and involvement of this community. Our grassroots approach facilitates a dynamic conversation between the arts and downtown Durham, one that directly fuels its ongoing revitalization.
